Angela Brownridge - Biography
Hailed as a "major star in classical piano", Angela first performed in public aged seven, a year later several of her compositions were published. By the age of ten she had performed her first concerto, and at twelve made her debut in the Wigmore Hall. She spent two years of study in Rome with Guido Agosti, and as the winner of several competitions she completed her studies with Maria Curcio in London.
Since then she has played in major venues worldwide and as soloist with many major orchestras and conductors. Festival engagements have included Edinburgh, Bath, Warwick, Newport Rhode Island, Hong Kong and Maastricht. She has recorded over twenty CDs, several being selected as "critic's choice", and "Record of the Year" by the Absolute Sound Magazine of America
Angela has been compared with such pianists as the legendary Rachmaninov, Cherkasky, and Bolet and possesses the rare talent of improvisation and playing by ear which has been with her since childhood and is illustrated by the last track on this recording: "Love walked in" and "Our love is here to stay" by Gershwin.
Alongside her solo albums Angela has recorded with the Royal Philharmonic and Hallé orchestras, and is a frequent broadcaster on BBC Radio 3 and radio stations abroad. She has appeared a number of times on BBC TV both as performer and presenter
